What Kinds of Sentences Should a 6-7 Year Old be Able to Write?

Simple Sentences

The sun is shining.
We went to the park yesterday.
I have a new toy car.

Compound Sentences:

I like to play outside, but it is raining.
My dog is very cute and friendly.
The sun is shining, so we can go to the park.
We went to the park yesterday and played on the swings.
I have a new toy car and I love it.

Complex Sentences

Because it is raining, we cannot go to the park.
Although my dog is cute, he can be naughty.
If the sun shines, we will go to the beach.
When we went to the park, we saw a squirrel.
Because I love my new toy car, I play with it all the time.

These are just a few examples, and 6-7 year olds will have different writing abilities.

Some children may be able to write more complex sentences, while others may still be working on simple sentences.

The most important thing is that children are able to express their thoughts and ideas clearly in writing.
